Local Sunday (June 19th): City Hope on the move

"We are not a church that has moved but a church that is on the move" were the words Paul Brown, one of the elders at City Hope, spoke when we moved our two Sunday services at our building on Drummond Road to one service at Harris Academy Bermondsey a couple of years ago. The move to HAB was always with a vision to grow, gain momentum and move again. Not to one larger venue but to different venues that would better reflect the value of local community that we carry as a church.

Sunday June 19th - local Sunday - is an important date for us as we take another step in the direction of our vision to grow and remain 'local'. On that Sunday we will not be meeting at HAB but in three locations that reflect different areas where City Hope people live. Local Sunday builds on the direction and work of our geographically based Connect communities and groups and follows on from the success of our three carol services that also met in different locations.

If you are part of City Hope and attend one of our Connect communities or groups you are probably well aware of the three different meetings and which meeting is the one 'in your area'. If you aren't in a community or group here are the details you need to know:

City Hope 'Bermondsey' will be meeting at our building on Drummond Road (SE16 2JY). If you live further west in to Borough please also come to this meeting.

City Hope 'Rotherhithe' will be meeting at the The Finnish Church (33 Albion Street, SE16 7JG).

City Hope 'South' will be meeting at Somerville Youth and Play Provision (264 Queens Road, SE14 5JN). If you live somewhere other than Bermondsey or Rotherhithe then please come to this meeting.

All the services will start at 10.30am, the usual time! All services will have children's work (not youth work on this occassion) and the talk given at each will be from the same passage but obviously three different speakers! Although we will be meeting in different places on June 19th it will still be City Hope together, reaching out across South London and beyond with God's love. Please come along and please invite friends and neighbours too. It will be great to see you there.
